Welcome to Gangway Pet Products and Dog Training.
We started our business in 1992, after owning and training Chesapeake Bay Retrievers since 1985. Our business started due to one of our Chessies’ having a skin problem. He was on steroids and prednisone daily with special shampoo treatments two to three times a week. We started researching pet foods and felt that chemical preservatives, and the general ingredients in most pet foods may be the problem. We looked for a food that had natural preservatives, whole grains and meat as the primary ingredient. After switching food it took some time to cleanse his system. He ended up not needing any more steroids, prednisone or special shampoo treatments and his skin problems cleared up.
We then told friends about our findings and built our clientele in this manner.
We worked out of our home for 8 years. We then rented space for three years in Duncannon, Pennsylvania and moved into our current facility in 2005 outside of Duncannon.
Over the years we have had 10 Chessies, two beagles, a beagle mix, a few rescue dogs and a kitten. We have trained these dogs in obedience, agilty, field, conformation and had several therepy dogs. Look for them and some of their friends specials on our web page.
